Nobody Is Further Along Than You, Sorry
On the endless search for someone who has the map and charges monthly for it
The hope is always the same: somewhere out there is a person who has sorted it out. Calmer voice, better posture, an unusual amount of linen. You hand over your confusion and they hand back a method, ideally in six modules. It is a comforting arrangement and it fails for a boring reason — the queue itself is the problem. The moment there is someone further along, you have invented a ladder, and ladders are just the office again with nicer lighting.
Notice that the distance you feel from anything real is not being kept in place by a locked door. There is no gate, no exam, no gatekeeper with a clipboard deciding you are not ready. The separation is homemade, built out of the mind's fondness for certainty and its low-level panic about being wrong in public. No ritual dismantles that, because rituals are also made of the same stuff, just slower and with candles.
The awkward part is that hierarchy quietly cancels the thing everyone claims to be after. Once there are the ones who have arrived and the ones still fumbling, you are sorting people, and sorting people is a completely different activity from caring about them. The scorekeeping goes on with a serene expression, which is somehow worse.
This is not a case for going it alone in a heroic way, either. Talking to people helps. Being looked at helps. It just works better when nobody in the room is auditioning for the front of it.
So: no map, no guide, no upgrade path. Only what is actually happening in you — the wanting, the comparing, the small hope that someone else will do the looking on your behalf. Watch that for a week and you will have more information than most reading lists provide.
No conclusions. No arrival.
